A few people on the members forum asked if I could do one or two simpler, less involved scenes.
With that in mind I chose this little coastal scene of Kirkcudbright (probably easier to paint than it is to spell). I was particularly attracted to the sparkle on the distant sea, and the way the perspective lines through the sand, lead the viewers eye right into the scene.
I chose the subject carefully, because I was particularly looking for something that, while being simpler was still inspirational and presented sufficient challenges for the more experienced painters to get something from, and enjoy painting.
I have often felt when preparing my work for an exhibition in the past that some of the paintings of simpler subjects, that I spent less time on, made the most pleasing paintings.
