Street Scene, Lefkara village, Cyprus - Preview

Looking through the members forum, I have been pleasantly surprised by how many members enjoy the paintings which are perhaps not landscapes in the traditional sense, like the little street and village scenes, that feature a sense of local architecture and detail.

I had this very much in mind when I chose this subject for my latest tutorial, Lefkara village in Cyprus.

I love the sun-baked stone-work, the warm shadows and the softening effect of the foliage and plants in the array of clay pots. I was also drawn to the warm red/brown colour of the wood-work, framing the curtained windows with the contrasting glimpse of the dark interior behind the panes of glass.
