The first thing that impressed me when I set eyes on this great little winter scene, was how well the red of the clapper-board walls, contrasted with the rich blue of the sky.
I also like the viewpoint, where we are looking up quite a steep hill, with the focal point sitting on the horizon and the slope of the snow-covered foreground and middle distance, described by the long shadows.
I always enjoy any slightly different architectural details, like the interesting shape provided by the church tower, and it’s all neatly framed by the dominant winter trees on both sides of the church.
An enjoyable Christmas project.
Happy Painting,
Geoff.
