Something a little different this time!

I think watercolour is the perfect medium for a little subject like this. I used wet into wet to give me the soft, blended shapes of the foliage; contrasting this with the harder, textured forms of the stonework and building details. The medium also lends itself to the very subtle colour variations in the Mediterranean stonework.

I worked quite loosely at first before tightening it up with more detail in the latter half of the painting.
