Frequently Asked Questions

Our tutorials and projects are perfect for you! We have projects suitable for all abilities, whether you are a beginner, intermediate or an advanced level.

Once you have registered and created your online members account you can login and view your tutorials by clicking the button in the top right of every page, or by clicking "My Account" in the footer menu at the bottom of the page. 

Enter your user details to be taken straight to your tutorials.

The tutorials are available for you to watch in your online account all the time your membership is paid and active. You can log into your membership account 24 hours a day, 365 days a year on your computer, tablet or even your phone, meaning you can watch the tutorials and projects at any time.

Downloading of the tutorial videos is not currently permitted.

The drawing and reference material downloads are supplied as a PDF file. 

The drawing sketch comes saved as a large enough file for you to either print yourself in parts and make it as large as you want, or you can take the file to a local printer and they can print it for you at any size you like.

Once printed at your required size the drawing can be traced onto your watercolour paper and you are ready to start painting!

People worry about copyright issues. As far as we are concerned, Geoff created these tutorial projects in order that you have a go at them. If you achieve pictures that you are happy with, then sign them as your own, frame them and exhibit them, then Geoff will be delighted.

If you intend to sell them it is polite to sign after, under or near your own signature "after Geoff Kersey" or 'inspired by Geoff Kersey' If you like any of Geoff's paintings and fancy 'having a go', please do. As soon as you sign a 'copied work' as your own it is always polite to acknowledge the original artist, otherwise you may be accused of "passing off" as someone else. All artists get ideas from the world around us, but to specifically copy another artists work should be acknowledged, all be it in a small way. 

Enjoy your painting, we do hope Geoff's work encourages you. 

Geoff will be painting both brand new scenes and some of his favourite subjects from his previous work. All tutorial videos are brand new and have been filmed especially for this website.

Below is a list of equipment that Geoff uses throughout all of the tutorials.

PAPER

For all of these projects I have used either Saunders Waterford Rough, 300lb (640gsm) or Arches Aquarelle 300lb (640gsm) NOT.

PAINTS

I always recommend tubes as opposed to pans, as it is easier to create fluid washes.

The main palette I have used in these tutorials are listed below. I have grouped them in blues, yellows and reds, with viridian being the only green straight from a tube that I use.

• Cobalt Blue

• Phthalo Blue

• Raw Sienna
  
• Aureolin
  
• Lemon Yellow or Cadmium Lemon
  
• Naples Yellow
  
• Primrose Yellow or Lemon Yellow Nickel Titanate

• Opaque White or White Gouache

Don’t worry if you haven’t got all these exact colours, there are others you can substitute.

BRUSHES

If you have a few watercolour brushes you should be OK, the basic set I use is as follows:

• Round No. 16, 12, 8, 4 and 2.
  
• Flat 1” and 0.5”
  
• A Liner Writer
  

MISCELLANEOUS 

• Palette, with generous mixing areas and the facility to keep fresh colour separated from mixed colour.
  
• Bottle of masking fluid
• Putty rubber
• B or 2B pencil
• Rule
• Drawing board
• Masking Tape

No there is absolutely no requirement to have any social media accounts in order to open a membership and follow Geoff's tutorials.

Our members forum is a private online community that is entirely separate to Facebook or any other social media sites.

There are some additional features that do require social media account such as the Student Gallery which requires an Instagram account however this is an optional feature that you can use if you wish.

We do also recommend you follow us on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram if you wish, to receive our latest news and any future offers.

Yes! We have membership plans set in US Dollars, Canadian Dollars, Euros, Australian Dollars and New Zealand Dollars. You can find our membership details and pricing here.

If you live in another currency you can still become a member. Just choose the membership currency that offers you the best conversion rate and your payment will be automatically converted from your payment currency. 

All currency conversion is performed automatically at the checkout so you do not need to do anything, just purchase and checkout as normal!

We can accept payments in over 182 currencies worldwide. 

You may be entering your username or password incorrectly, or you may have forgotten your login info. If so simply click "forgot your password" on the sign in screen and enter your email address.

We will send an email to you to with a password reset link. Once you have reset your password you should be able to log into your account using your new passwword.

Our website will work on most up-to-date internet browsers, however for the best results we would recommend updating your browser to the latest version to avoid interrupted video playback. The site also requires Javascript and cookies to be enabled on your device. Please check your browser preferences and ensure Javascript and cookies are enabled. If you are still having difficulties viewing the site we recommend downloading Google Chrome for free, as a fast, up to date internet browser.

Our video player automatically adapts to the speed of your internet and adjust the video quality to suit, this is designed to reduce the time it takes for videos to load and prevent them from stopping during playback.

However if you experience slow video streaming you can override this to reduce the video quality and make the videos stream faster without stopping.

To do this click on the HD button in the bottom right of the video player to bring up the quality settings. By default it will be on auto however you can choose a lower quality version which should resolve the stopping issue.
