If you look through the over 200 tutorials now on the website, you’ll see that boats are definitely a recurring theme, as I do enjoy painting them, especially if, as in this case, I can combine them with a good sky.

And despite the fact that this is a fairly simple scene, I really did enjoy painting it for this latest landscape project.

Unusually, I stick basically to the original composition as seen in the photo, with a few changes.

I was drawn to the glimpse of Bournemouth pier way out in the distance, with the suggested shapes of the silhouetted groynes in slightly stronger tones as they get nearer to the foreground, all under this beautiful evening sky.
