Footpath to Howtown - Preview

For this tutorial I've chosen a scene from one of my favourite Lake District walks; the path from Pooley Bridge to Howtown near Ullswater.

I think the main thing that appeals to me about this particular path, apart from the stunning views, is the stony, uneven surface which creates these deep puddles after rainfall.

It's a really rewarding scene to paint, with the reflections in the water framed by the dry-stone wall and grassy banks, plus a spectacular backdrop provided by the distant fells.
