Less than a mile from where I live in the Derbyshire Dales is this old signal box on the “Peak Rail” heritage railway line, which forms part of the old Midland Railway line that closed in 1968. This four mile stretch between the village of Rowsley and the town of Matlock features steam trains and is run by an enthusiastic team of volunteers.
When I looked at the photos I had taken on a winter walk last year, I particularly liked this one where I am looking into the light, and it occurred to me that it would make an interesting project if we converted it to a snow-scene.
This means we have to use some imagination, and try to think what the scene would look like in winter’s white cloak, with snow perched on the buildings and tree branches, and the long afternoon shadows in warm and cool colours.
So something a bit different and great fun to do. Happy Painting!
