This is a lovely atmospheric scene of an old farmstead in winter.

I was immediately drawn by the contrast of the crisp white snow and frost under the oranges and yellows of the late afternoon sky; this coupled with the long shadows, and silhouetted shapes of the fence and trees, creates a perfect winter painting project.

There are plenty of techniques along the way, including wet into wet, masking fluid on a wet background, and salt sprinkling.

I hope you get as much enjoyment out of painting it as I did.
