As we are getting so close to Christmas, I thought it might be a good idea to add to the festive spirit, with thoughts of a pre or post-Christmas walk, on a crisp wintery afternoon.
It features long shadows across the fine coating of snow, a warm glow in the sky glimpsed through the trees, and foreground interest provided by the old wooden footbridge and a glimpse of water, which neatly leads the viewer's eye into the scene.
Unfortunately the photo I had taken, whilst I thought would make the perfect composition, was taken in the summer.
However, it occurred to me that this could actually be an advantage, as it would give us the opportunity to use a bit of imagination and artistic license to change the scene and inject a bit of Christmas magic.
