For this Autumn tutorial, I was looking for something with a misty element to it, when I came across this inspiring photo of a windmill in Holland.
I was immediately drawn to the line of mist running through the middle of the scene, particularly the way it affects the silhouetted shape of the windmill and distant trees.
These soft shapes are continued along the river banks and in the blurred reflections in the still waters of the dyke; all of which contrasts perfectly with the sharper, more focused shape of the small landing stage in the bottom right, completing the scene and enhancing the feeling of distance.
Lots of wet into wet practice and a couple of good examples of how to correct cauliflowers along the way.
I hope you enjoy painting it as much as I did.
