At this time of year, I always like to do a tutorial based on a Forest or Woodland, so I can take advantage of the beautiful colours provided by the all-too-brief autumn season.
I love this type of subject, where, rather than looking at individual trees we are seeing trees "en masse".
I realise that initially, this can appear quite complex and even a bit overwhelming, so in this tutorial, I'll demonstrate how to sort out all the masses of foliage and colour that make up the forest canopy, with loose, wet into wet washes, before bringing it all together with more detailed work in the second half of the painting.
I always find this type of subject exciting to get stuck into, and I hope you enjoy painting it as much as I did.
