Grand Union Canal - Preview

I came across this little subject a couple of years ago while working at an Art show in Islington.

I was amazed to find this little oasis of calm, just a few metres from the bars, cafes, shops and general hustle and bustle of London. I was particularly attracted to the bright light catching the roofs of the boats, and the way the whole scene, including the narrative element of the guy fishing, was framed by the rich summer foliage. Notice how the viewers eye is lead along the path and ultimately into the distance under the bridge arch, where we just get a hint of the distant buildings.
