This picturesque Derbyshire village is one I have painted in a few different seasons, but I think my favourite is when it is wearing it’s winter cloak. I like the slight simplification that the snow gives everything, enabling us to concentrate on atmosphere and light.
I chose this elevated view, with the view of the rooftops, the slightly misty distance, and the undulating shapes of the far hills which are so redolent of the Peak District.
