From reading comments on the members forum, I could see that a lot of people had really enjoyed the tutorial I did last year, of a tower in Italy on a bank of rocks, surrounded by crashing waves.

This prompted me, when I was planning the next filming session, to look out for a similar subject, and I came across this photo, after receiving an email from one of our members in Maine, suggesting I do something from their area.

There’s a lot of wet into wet, and the interesting focal point of the lighthouse gives us the chance to introduce a bit of contrasting colour. The crashing waves present us with an exciting challenge, and an opportunity to use the “spattering” effect with white gouache.

All great fun! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
