This is an area of Derbyshire I have visited many times over the years as it is excellent walking country, with some beautiful scenery.

The cave is actually a massive detached arch of rock that was once the mouth of a cavern until the roof caved in, and is named after a local brigand called Reynard, who apparently used it as a refuge. It makes an unusual landscape subject, with a unique set of challenges, and great fun to paint.
